May the Lights of Great Love Shine Brightly in Australia

(Photo by: Austin Tsai)When the devastating flood struck the City of Ipswich in 2011, the Australian Tzu Chi volunteers went in to clean the traumatized areas and comfort the victims with a compassionate heart. It was also when the city Mayor, Paul Pisasale, first met with Tzu Chi, and was touched by the humanism spirits and Great Love of the organization. The next year, the Mayor visited Dharma Master Cheng Yen in Haulien to thank her in person, and learned about Tzu Chi’s global missions of charity, medicine, education, and humanism. Moreover, with a vow of becoming Master Cheng Yen’s disciple, Mayor Pisasale visited Taiwan once again in 2014 together with Ipswich State High School Principal, Simon Riley, and Blue Mountains City Councilor and wife, Don and Susie McGregor, to visit Tzu Chi’s Neihu Recycling Station and DA.AI Technology to see how the organization promotes environmental protection through eco-branding and product design.

Hopefully with the help of DA.AI’s eco textile product, the brand value of eco- life style can spread further in Australia both externally (environment) and internally (mindset). Principal Simon Riley shared that “Seeing Tzu Chi’s recycling station and the amount of materials being recycled is amazing, as half of the materials are thrown away in Australia. I have already purchased DA.AI’s scarfs for the school staff, and hope to participate more to make Ipswich High School one of the most inspiring and influential schools in leading the environmental protection awareness.” Moreover, he bought a set of Ipswich State High School uniform to DA.AI, wishing that the company can help making the uniform with recycled PET bottle in the future.

Two years ago when Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale first met with Tzu Chi, he has been a believer ever since and helped promoting in public occasion whenever chance is given. The Mayor even printed Tzu Chi's logo on the back of his own business card, next to the Ipswich City emblem and Australian National emblem. “This represents the closer and stronger relationship between the City of Ipswich and Tzu Chi Foundation; because talking about compassion, it is about putting words into action, and what we see today (at DA.AI) is action.” By the end of the visit, the Mayor shared with excitement that he looks forward in meeting with Master Cheng Yen once again as a visitor, and leave as her best disciple in Australia, and will dedicate his full effort in promoting Tzu Chi and environmental protection back at home.
