The Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Spirit Leads to a Sustainable Path

Being one of the environmental protection and public welfare corporation pioneers with strong sustainability ideology, DA.AI Technology continues to devote in the field of Cradle to Cradle (C2C) design model to fulfill planet protection mission. Taiwan’s Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has also been promoting the C2C design spirit since 2010. C2C’s model not only reduces raw material consumption, resource waste, and pollution, but also ponders on how to fully recycle discarded materials and turn them into useful products once again.

The C2C concept focuses on learning from nature and regenerating resources from the beginning of a product life cycle. The relationship between C2C and DA.AI Technology can be dated back to 2011, when the company’s General Manager, James Lee, and R&D Manager, Dr. Ting Hung, personally interviewed one of the co-founders, Dr. Michael Braungart, of the design model to see how the idea can be applied onto DA.AI’s products. Dr. Braungart also visited one of Tzu Chi’s recycling stations in Taipei, and was deeply touched by Tzu Chi’s holistic and detailed recycling process. He expressed his gratitude to Tzu Chi, and believed that Tzu Chi has an important role in promoting the C2C design model to the world.

C2C is an “advanced-design” method to achieve the ultimate zero waste goal while developing product from very early stage. DA.AI Technology’s gray eco-blanket was the first in Asia, and second in the world, to receive the Cradle to Cradle Silver Certification in Re-PET products in 2012, and continued to renew in 2014. Moreover, DA.AI received the C2C Innovation Design Award from Taiwan EPA, which evaluated each candidate based on several benchmark criteria, including product safety, recycle-able level, carbon emission and water usage during manufacturing, socially responsible, green concept, innovative design, aesthetic, green packaging, and more. DA.AI’s grey eco blanket passed all these examinations, and eventually was awarded the honor.

All the certifications and awards not only rewarded the company’s dedication in C2C research, but also recognized DA.AI’s work in corporate social responsibility and green enterprise. Appreciating the great significance behind C2C and following Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s teaching of “doing what is right, and just do it,” DA.AI Technology will continue to improve its C2C research direction, and spread the idea to all the different fields and industries to invite more participants to join this path of green inspiration.
