DA.AI implements eco-friendly concept in daily life that benefits human and the environment. The Magical Blue Coat, made with special eco-friendly recycled polyester material, inherits characteristics like all other DA.AI apparels: easy to clean, fast drying, and easy to store. It not only provides Tzu Chi volunteers warmth in cold weather, but also protects Earth from harmful chemicals that are often used in textile industry. PFCs (a.k.a. C8) water repellent coating has been commonly used in textile industry; however, has also been tested to cause cancer to the human body. Thus, European and American markets are now choosing eco-friendly coating (a.k.a. C6), or completely PFC free water repellent coating as a healthier substitution.

PFOS may cause cancer to liver, nerve, blood vessel, reproduction system, and others. Meanwhile, PFOS substance takes long time to decompose, and has a higher chance to be carried around by water and air, entering our food chain. According to Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Clinical Toxicology Dr. Yen Zong Hai, PFOS and PFOA can reside in human body for long period of time, damage liver and kidney, increase chances of blood and thyroid disease, and cancer tumor growth. DA.AI’s Magical Blue Coat is made by fabric with eco-friendly C6 water repellent coating, while other outfits, like the Eco Light Weighted Jacket, use non-PFCs natural coating, making these eco-products not only water repellent, but also breathable when wearing them.
