DA.AI’s Compassion Technology Contributes to Humanitarian Love

The Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation has been providing humanitarian assistance and service to over 96 countries for more than half a century, covering pre- disaster reduction plan, mid-term disaster relief projects, as well as consistent follow-ups under "rapid, direct, focused, pragmatic, respect, and gratitude” principles. With strong practices and experiences in disaster relief, Tzu Chi hopes to integrated and engaged in academic presentation, and adopts these systematic risk management models together with other similar organizations.

Three of DA.AI staffs, together with representatives from Tzu Chi Foundation, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, and Charles Darwin University in Australia participated in the International Conference on Community-based Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery seminar on September 11, 2017. The seminar was held in the International Conference Hall of Pingtung University of Science and Technology to exchange international and domestic experience on effective approaches to disaster response and recovery practices. Australian Professor Douglas Paton is a member of the UNISDR subcommittee risk interpretation and action, and the Technical Advisor of WHO for developing risk communication strategies, joined the seminar as keynote speaker with other international disaster relief and reconstruction experts from Czech Republic, Indonesia, Japan,New Zealand, and Turkey.

The Eco LED Cap and backpacks that carry high-tech design and humanitarian philosophy attracted foreign researchers, as well as other practitioners and social workers. We hope this two-day conference has provided all participants a better solution learning from past experiences, developed a community-based recovery guidelines, and benefited international communities.
