From C2C to R2R – the Symbol of Love and Hope

Since 2008, DA.AI Technology has dedicated in turning recycled PET bottles into eco textile products following the concept of “Coexist with Earth,” and integrated over 80,000 environmental Bodhisattvas’ selfless works in sorting, separating, and cleaning recycled bottles in over 5,600 recycling stations in Taiwan, and 60 cooperatives in making these precious resources into eco-friendly consumer products. One of the signature products, filled with Great Love, is the DA.AI Grey Eco-Blanket, which has traveled all over the world with Tzu Chi disaster relief volunteer’s footprints, and aided over 900,000 disaster survivors both physically and spiritually, including Japan 311, Philippines Haiyan, Sierra Leone Ebola, Malaysia floods, Nepal great earthquake, and many more.

The problem with textile product, regardless of coming from virgin or eco materials, is wear and tear, and will eventually become garbage. Moreover, Taiwan textile industry alone creates 15 to 20 tons of disposal fabric from manufacturing per year, and causes a great impact to the environment. Thus, DA.AI took a meaningful step in 2012 to establish its R&D department to look for new possibility based on the Cradle to Cradle design model. With years of development, DA.AI has successfully recycled and turned disposed fabric back to its PET chip form, and thus, new eco fabric and blanket are now possible. We named it “R2R PET chip” and “R2R PET DA.AI eco fabric,” based on the idea of 100% from “recycle to recycle,” making the PET material to stay in a closed loop and never thrown away. As for production process, DA.AI avoids after-dying as much as possible to significantly lower water and dying solution usage.

This technique is patented in Taiwan on July, 2015, making the R2R eco blanket not only a supply that can be distributed in humanitarian disaster relief, but also a symbol of love and hope for both our planet and its residents. DA.AI is a green brand not to promote consumption, but rather environmental education through our eco-friendly products. In the end, the company’s 100% net proceed is utilized by the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation in disaster relief and charitable works, making the company a 100% social enterprise.
