Cultivation Series Turns Leisure to Contribution

Leisure is a term that often relates to industrial society, and refers to a temporarily leave from people’s daily job, seeking for “a way of living” to satisfy spiritual needs or, what we might simply call, relaxation. In Chinese, the word ‘leisure’ and ‘cultivation’ are pronounced the same, and so Dharma Master Cheng Yen advises us to spend our leisure time to contribute to the world, and cultivate our virtuous personality and blessing. Coincidentally, the word ‘recreation’ in English also conveys the message of innovation, which re-defines the meaning of leisure activity.

DA.AI’s Cultivation Series, including the well-known DA.AI Eco Shirt, follows such principle and wishes everyone wearing these leisure apparels can dedicate themselves in meaningful activities of contribution. DA.AI’s logo, Bodhi leaf, is embroidered on the shirt pocket, and conveys a distinctive meaning in Buddhism as well as in DA.AI’s garments. The darker green on the left represents the concern for our environment held by all the individual volunteers that made DA.AI possible. The lighter green on the right symbolizes our hope for a future that everyone joins together to protect our planet. The twisted tip means transforming the mass population into environmental protectors, much like reaching enlightenment as mentioned in the Lotus Sutra.

DA.AI Eco Shirt is made with 50% DA.AI eco yarn and 50% cotton blended yarn, and can be worn as Tzu Chi male volunteer’s uniform, as well as formal dress. As Jing-Si Aphorism says “Besides a straightforward mind, we walk the path and diligently practice right Dharma; and we are never indolent to do good deeds, this is diligence.” DA.AI Eco Shirt is truly a “Dharma Blissfulness Apparel,” and while wearing this piece of clothing, we should expect ourselves to dedicate more in meaningful activities, contribute to the society during our leisure time, and practice good deeds every day.
