In response to climate change and the growing global emphasis on ESG and sustainability, Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital has integrated sustainability into everyday healthcare practices—from medical services and food choices to energy conservation and resource circulation. Its commitment to green healthcare has also earned recognition from Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) as a representative case of a Global Green and Healthy Hospital in Taiwan.

As part of this journey, Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital has partnered with environmental social enterprise DAAI to advance the circular use of medical materials permitted for reuse under relevant regulations established by Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and Ministry of Environment. Through the principle of “cherishing the life of every resource and giving materials a new cycle,” medical teams begin at the source by reducing waste and carefully sorting materials, while DAAI transforms qualified medical resources through innovative recycling and design.

This collaboration connects healthcare, environmental protection, and the circular economy, creating a positive cycle that begins with mindful action in the medical field and extends to sustainable product development.

Together, Taipei Tzu Chi Hospital and DAAI demonstrate that green healthcare is not only about reducing environmental impact—it is about embedding care, responsibility, and sustainability into every aspect of healthcare, offering a meaningful model for the future of low-carbon and circular healthcare
