海汙事件簿(五)漂流木Wood washed into oceans

In 2009, Typhoon Morakot, one of the deadliest typhoons to hit Taiwan, brought 3,000mm of rain in just three days. Torrential rains and subsequent landslides washed over one million tons of logs down mountains and into the sea. The impact this had on Taiwan`s coastlines was unprecedented. Today, we take a look at how this driftwood has impacted the marine ecosystem along our shorelines, as well as what is being done by the Forestry Bureau to strengthen their management in this area.
