The 31st World Genius Convention and Education Expo took place from July 7th to 8th, 2017, at Shinjuku Tokyo, Japan, which the Chinese Innovation and Invention Society representative brought back abundant and fruitful results. More than 150 works from 12 countries competed in this international event. Taiwan along submitted 58 entries, and received 29 golds, 17 silvers, and 6 special awards throughout the competition. With great pride, DA.AI R2R product series made from recycled blanket and trimmed fabric was one of the 29 gold winners.

Nakamatsu Yoshiro, the President of the conference, said that "ecology has been a very big issue in Japan today,” and praised DA.AI that “Your revolutionary ideas and products will not only improve the environment, but also economics in society.” Taiwan is a large textile manufacturer, producing large amount of discarded textile leftovers that caused significant negative impacts to the environment. DA.AI not only developed textile from Re-PET chips, yarn, and fabrics, but also achieved an extraordinary milestone of turning recycled Re-PET fabric back into new eco garments and accessories in 2015. We named it Recycle to Recycle (R2R) Product Series, which includes blanket, vest, scarf, 3D mask, protective goggle, zipper bags, etc.

Other than DA.AI, another Tzu Chi related team also made remarkable contribution to humanity. Students from Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology, led by Zu-Chun Lin (林祝君), Dean of the Office of Research & Development, won a gold and a special award for developing a safe needle, knowing that medical personnel are often pricked by needles, increasing the risk of serious infection. DA.AI’s R2R technique not only practice of low energy consumption, low pollution with the huge economic value, but also patented this technology in Taiwan and mainland China, and wishes to reduce the negative impact of textile industry to Earth. By approaching “zero waste” concept with enhanced technology, we sincerely hope that our simple idea and action can bring huge change to our environment and the world.
