Plastic bags are commonly used for packaging foods, clothes, powders, magazines, waste, etc. In Taiwan, a person uses more than 2.7 plastic bags per day, equals to 728 bags per person a year, according to statistics from the Taiwan Environmental Information Association. Data also shows that Taiwanese consumes about 18 billion plastic bags annually, 3.9 times more than the number consumed by the European Union.
