To prepare for the musical Sutra adaptation, volunteers worked hard at remembering their movements and adopting a vegetarian diet for 108 days since June. Apart from the sincere preparation, costume and outfit are also important in sutra performance. This time, participants’ performing outfit, made by DA.AI’s eco-friendly material, added deeper meaning to the sutra performance, and demonstrated great humanistic value.

It was the first time that The Sutra of Profound Gratitude to Parents performers wore DA.AI’s eco outfits to interpret and perform. Chen Tzu Xin, wife of DA.AI co-founder Lin Jia He, guided participants to experience the love behind their eco apparels by bringing a team from the company’s Taiwan headquarters to Shanghai, only to better communicate the meaningful purpose to the participants. Dharma interpretation is an important Tzu Chi activity, as it helps to purify mindset and guide people to understand Dharma, particularly in this sutra performance, the spirit of “being filial is the most rewarding thing in life.”

The sutra performance gathered performers from all walks of life, who have been performing for more than 1,000 times to more than 300,000 people for the past 15 years. Although none of which is performed by professionals, this sutra adaption has successfully moved millions of participants and audiences, and change their ways of life. It conveys Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s spirit of filial piety, following her teaching to disciples that 'fulfilling filial piety and doing good deed can’t wait.' DA.AI hopes to continue carrying out this spirit to more people with eco-friendly performance apparel over the world.
