As an island, Taiwan is blessed with lush forests, fertile farmland, and abundant marine life, however, the country is limited in terms of metal mines. Thus, all demand for precious metals have to be met by imports. But since the concept of Urban Mining came out in 1988, it is now possible that Taiwan will no longer have to imports precious metals.
台灣是個海島，有茂密的森林，肥沃的土壤，豐富的海洋資源，但卻沒有什麼金屬礦脈，因此必須仰賴進口，但自從1988年，出現城市礦山的概念，台灣若可以善用已存在的資源，則有可能不需要再仰賴金屬進口。
