Mangrove forests are known for their ability to reduce water pollution, as well as helping with coastline protection and flood prevention. So it only seemed logical to plant the tree in areas that faced such problems. Unfortunately, once outside its natural habitat, the mangroves spread too quickly, wreaking havoc on the local ecosystem and causing the very flooding that they were supposed to prevent. It goes to show nature is not to be trifled with.
紅樹林有很多知名的功能，包括減少水汙染，保護海岸線與防治水患，所以依照邏輯，有這些問題的地方，是不是就栽種紅樹林就好了呢？可惜的是，一旦離開原本的自然生態，紅樹林就會因為生長迅速，破壞被植入的生態環境，更造成原本該預防的淹水，這讓我們了解大自然，可不是隨便就可以任意改造的。
