In Taiwan, local governments are advocating the concept of sponge cities and townships to help fight flooding. What this means is employing eco-friendly concepts to help developing cities and townships better absorb excess rainwater. If carried out successfully, not only can flooding be controlled, but the water will not go to waste.
台灣的政府為了治水，在推廣海綿城市的概念，也就是在都市計畫或土地開發設計之際，就引用環保的工法吸納多餘的雨水，若能全面推廣，不止能有效的治水，同時也能保護珍貴的水資源。
