Germans visit Tzu Chi recycling center

A delegation of German politicians and academics are in Taiwan on a fact-finding visit. While here, they dropped by the Tzu Chi Neihu grounds in Taipei, to learn how volunteers recycle plastic bottles, that are turned into blankets for international disaster relief missions. Although the visitors from Germany were no strangers to recycling, they were impressed by the way Tzu Chi combined conservation and charity work.

Members of the German parliament, the president of the Saxony state parliament, and other delegates visit the Tzu Chi Neihu grounds in Taipei on Tuesday to see how technology is applied to recycling. A volunteer explains how Tzu Chi blankets are made from plastic bottles.
Tzu Chi volunteer:"We can send it to maybe Pakistan a few weeks later. Pakistan, and we sent a lot in Haiti. Or two years ago we sent to Sichuan, China. That brought a lot of love, so we have slogans that say we turn trash into gold, gold means money, and then gold into love, and then we spread the love by TV station by satellite all over the world."

Seeing how plastic bottles and scrap paper are recycled is nothing new for the six German visitors, but what does impress them is the way conservation is linked to humanitarian aid.
Saxony State Parliament president, Dr. Matthias Rosler:"To clean their environment and to take the materials and do good things for other people, for example, in Pakistan, this organization can connect activity and faith in a wonderful way."

Germany has a good record on environmental protection. The visitors say they are interested by how Tzu Chi applies eco-friendly technology to international disaster relief.
一群德國政客、學者來到台灣參訪，來到台北慈濟內湖環保園區了解志工回收寶特瓶做成賑災用的環保毛毯，雖然德國對環保工作並不陌生，看到慈濟把環保理念和慈善工作相結合，還是印象深刻。
來自德國國會議員、薩克森邦議會議長以及科技創新協會人員一行人7號周二下午來到慈濟內湖園區參訪，希望了解環保科技在台灣的運用，慈濟志工也向他們介紹賑災用的毛毯是由寶特瓶製成的。
Tzu Chi volunteer：「未來幾星期內我們會把毛毯送到巴基斯坦，我們也送到海地，二年前，我們也送到大陸四川，那是很多的愛心，我們有一句口號是我們把垃圾變黃金，黃金是錢的意思，然後我們把黃金變成愛心，我們利用電視衛星把愛心散佈到全球。」
寶特瓶、紙張如何回收處理？在注重環保的德國眼裡不足以為奇，但是看到上人把環保和慈善人文的結合，卻讓他們印象相當深刻。
Saxony State Parliament president, Dr. Matthias Rosler：「清理環境同時，也把回收物拿去幫助更多的人，像是巴基斯坦等，這個組織能夠把回收活動和信念用很好的方式做連接。」
德國一向很注重環保，訪客們表示對於慈濟應用環保科技到國際賑災上，令人感到興趣。
