A group of 18 resident volunteers from Tzu Chi’s Four Missions in Penang, Malaysia, recently visited DAAI for an exchange and tour. Together, these senior volunteers have accumulated more than a thousand years of life experience. For more than two decades, they have quietly devoted themselves to safeguarding Tzu Chi’s missions, nurturing their communities from the grassroots with sincerity, kindness, and meaningful action. Their dedication deeply reflects Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s aspiration to bring truth, goodness, and beauty into the world.
DAAI General Manager Lee Ting-Ming also shared his personal journey of “Learning and Awakening” along the Tzu Chi path. He expressed his hope that environmental protection can serve as a bridge connecting Tzu Chi’s Four Missions—charity, medicine, education, and culture—helping more people discover and understand Tzu Chi and inspiring them to join the journey of doing good and cultivating blessings together.
The Buddhist teaching of “true emptiness, wondrous existence” reminds us that although life is finite, every act of giving and every good deed can nurture an infinite spiritual legacy. The teaching that “impermanence is itself permanence” further reminds us to continually reflect on the value of our lives, cherish the present moment, and make the best use of the time and abilities we have been given.
DAAI is deeply grateful to these senior volunteers for their decades of dedication, care, and commitment. May they carry with them a renewed sense of Dharma joy and their original aspiration as they continue their journey of learning and awakening, walking together on the Bodhisattva path and cultivating a great field of blessings for the world.
