In April 25, Nepal suffered from devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake, and the first group of 15 Tzu Chi relief volunteers were already on their way to aid the survivors within 48 hours, brought with them a ton of medicine supply, Eco LED Solar Power Cap, Eco Anti-Punctual White Shoes, and Eco Magical White Pants for safety and convenience. They arrived at Nepal in the afternoon of April 28, and began to provide medical and material assistance and evaluate the possibility of relief work in the ancient origin land of Buddhism.

The mobile medical team went together with local volunteers, traveled by foot to the mountain village of Pikhel. The villagers were delighted to see them and prepared a tent as the temporary clinic spot. Despite all the difficulties, the warmth they brought was visible on the faces of the villagers. Doctors used the Eco LED Solar Cap to help patients examine their injury. After the first medical consultation, noticing that a great number of survivors suffer from bone fractures, so they gave patients pain-killer first and report for the second medical relief team to prepare the needed medical materials for bone surgery.

Tzu Chi volunteers personally felt the suffering and pain, and will continue to give short, mid, and long term aid and support to the survivors, such as providing temporary evacuation centers to needed areas.

While the front line Tzu Chi volunteers aided the earthquake survivors through hands-on actions, we in Taiwan can also contribute expertise and love. DA.AI Technology’s research and turn recycled PET bottles into functional eco-products to protect and help the international relief volunteers and disaster survivors, such as the signature Eco-blanket, LED Solar cap, Eco Solar Luggage, Eco Anti-Punctual Shoes, Eco Anti-odor socks, and DA.AI Polo shirt. We will continue to improve these products to better support the volunteers on their life saving missions, as well as give comfort for the survivors.

Although living safely in Taiwan, we saw our neighbor countries suffered from natural disasters, and only gets more devastating each time. The Nepal Earthquake is a reminder that we should be thankful and feel compassionate for the disaster survivors, and give them a hand while we live in a safe environment and great health. Let’s pray for Nepal and help the survivors walk out of sorrow and suffering together.
