The Green Miracle Inspiring Others in 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition

During 2010 Taipei International Flora Exposition, Da. Ai Technology participated in the 2011 Spring FUSE fashion show held in an exhibition hall surrounded by walls made of PET bottles. Before show time, the visitors had filled the hall looking forward to seeing the textile products created with green resources.
Green Fashion Presented In Creative Ways
Da.Ai Technology, using recycled PET bottles as materials together with new technology, has created 18 pieces of clothings. Themes of flowers, natural elements, oriental essences, and feminine designs, etc. were presented in more creative ways than before.
Each piece of clothes is made from recycled PET bottles, making it 100% environmental friendly. It at least saves energy resources and carbon emission by 50%. Furthermore, a cool yarn called COOLCROSS was added to achieve fast sweat evaporation, good elasticity, and easy body movement.
Mr. Liu of Tzu Chi Foundation appraised the success, “In the earliest stage, we developed blankets made from recycled PET bottle frabrics and had sent out 400,000 pieces of them. Now we also developed re-PET bottles-made fashionable clothing. All in all, our daily necessities, especially clothing, not just blankets, can be made environmental friendly.
A Simple Primitive Color, A Partner of The Earth
On the stage, the beautiful models who wear clothes made by Da.Ai Technology move gracefully. Most clothes are black and white, and they include Polo shirts, casual wear, male and female suits, dresses, pants, shorts, and skirts. These fashions imply how much we love and cherish the Earth.
The wonderful catwalk shows together with eye-catching Green clothing had caught attention and applauses of countless visitors.
Mr. Chen, the designer of Da.Ai Technology said, “Our design shows during the International Flora Exposition are to tell audience how to be visible as an individual in a colorful surroundings . The answer is " Simplicity.”
He continued, “We kept the primitive color of PET bottles without dyeing. In addition, we added oriental essences to Western designs. How to perform the unique & graceful oriental style in Western design? In originality of design, we focus on every details; namely, a flounced skirt or crepe on skirt rim. On the trim perspective, we simply utilize the model transforming to represent women’s graceful fashion.”
One audience said, “I came to see Flora Exposition and happened to see these textile products developed by Da.Ai. Everything is simple but fashionable. Sure they matched young people’s taste. I myself had fallen in love with these clothing products.”
Educate People about the Mission of Environmental Protection
Mr. Chen, the designer,said, “ We want to educate consumers on how to cherish our Earth and this is our mission of design. Da.Ai Technology will donate all its business profits back to the society for charity causes.”
Before being involved with Tzu Chi, Mr. Chen barely knew about it. He only knew that Tzu Chi is a charity organization. He said, “Now I know Tzu Chi also tries to educate people about environmental protection, in addition to its charity work. Its charity mission has a broad base.”
Marketing volunteer Mr. Lee said happily, “I felt good about our performance during the Flora Exposition. Our clothing made the models look more charming. Furthermore, we let people know that our design concept is simplicity, naturalness, no overstatement. I think we have got what we wanted to achieve.”
Another designer Ms. Hong said, “ Tzu Chi’s motto is environmental protection, humanitarianism, and generosity. Therefore, our design concepts have to match these mottos too. It is not easy for this is not the same as general fashion designs. We hope Da.Ai Technology becomes a fresh face in fashion industry.”
Lee hoped that Da.Ai’s fashion products can suit people of all ages and all classes. Not only Tzu Chi volunteers, but all others will welcome Da,Ai’s Green fashions. And this is our priority at present.”
Admiration, Confidence, A Combined power
Several existing coordinating businesses also came to the fashion show.
Chairman Chen, the developer of clothes materials said, “ Greatly touched. Tzu Chi’s environmental protection has been a mission in the past 20 years. Many volunteers understand this is an urgently important mission and therefore had been working very hard to achieve this mission. We, the coordinating entities, of course would follow the steps, work hard to develop the products to help achieve the mission.”
Another Chairman Chen said, “I am very happy to see that this show has told people that recycled PET bottles can be made into beautiful clothing and many other daily necessities.”
After the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, President Chen Kao-Chin thought that we need everyone kindness to do good deeds together, he said:” Let’s follow Master Cheng Yen’s appeal to be vegetarian, and to do recycling as well. Hope we can use our hands to take part in environmental protection, and to turn recycling goods to beautiful thing so that we need everyone to prompt the idea of recycling.”
Sending Love and Care to Needy Ones in Japan
Mr. Liu said, “ Da. Ai Technology has sent out 5000 pieces of Green blankets to help Japanese people in disaster areas. We still have 17,000 pieces in inventory. We will send out 10,000 pieces of Green scarves to Japan next Monday. We may even consider sending out Green underwear to needy Japanese people.”
From a waste to a useful product, each piece of Green blanket is a result of Tzu Chi volunteers collecting 70 recycled PET bottles. They are soft and warm. The volunteers are in the progress of making hundreds of Green scarves for Japanese people in earthquake-stricken areas. Every volunteer is working round-the-clock in order to send out warm scarves to the people enduring freezing weather in Japan.
At present, shelters lack water, electricity, and food. Besides, the cold weather worsens the situation. Tzu Chi volunteers in Japan had overcome many difficulties to go into the disaster areas to provide hot food, blankets, and other needed supplies. In the cold snowstorm, Tzu Chi volunteers are like a lit candle shining in the dark, they have brought love, warmth and friendship to the Japanese people in need.
