可藥小心(4)Handle unused meds properly


Medicine works like a double edged sword and cuts both ways. If used properly, it can benefit us. Otherwise, not only our health, but the environment will suffer as well. As Taiwan’s medication is 7.7 times that of the United States, a lot of time, not all prescriptions are finished as instructed. Especially since a patient’s medication record is not available online, doctors may not know what their patients are already taking and may end up repeating prescriptions. Unfortunately, more than 50 percent of Taiwanese simply discard their unfinished medication right along with their trash, which leads to drug pollution. Here is our report. 
藥物就像雙刃劍,用的好對健康有益,用錯了,不只健康,連環境都受影響,由於台灣的用藥量是美國的7.7倍,許多藥物並沒有依醫生的指示吃完,更由於病患的用藥紀錄並沒有上線,讓醫生了解病患已經有什麼藥了,容易造成用藥重複的情形,不幸的是,超過半數的台灣人,通常把沒有吃完的藥直接當垃圾丟掉,也因此造成了藥物汙染,以下是我們的報導。
