In Indonesia, Tzu Chi volunteers held a blessing ceremony at the Pantai Indah Kapuk Jing Si Hall to advocate vegetarianism and encourage people to stop burning joss paper. During the ceremony, the short skit A Moment`s Thought was performed by Tzu Chi volunteers and was a big hit with the locals.

Recently, Taiwan Tzu Chi volunteers jointly organized a blessing ceremony with the Rotary Club of Hualien. Meanwhile, in Taichung and Miaoli, Tzu Chi volunteers and participants came together to pray for those affected by Taiwan’s recent tragedies. However, first, let’s join volunteers in Malaysia’s Kota Kinabalu who encouraged the public to go meatless during lunar July.

Throughout Chinese communities in Penang, Malaysia, whenever the seventh lunar month comes around, the streets are often lined with piles of joss paper ready to be burnt as offerings to ancestors and ghosts. Tzu Chi volunteer-in-training Ma Liuxin(馬柳馨) was the same, blindly following traditions. It wasn`t until Ma(馬) joined Tzu Chi that she understood the many traditions associated with the seventh lunar month were in fact superstitions.

Also, in Melbourne, Australia, a group of Tzu Chings put on a sign language performance at the graduation ceremony of the University of Melbourne to promote vegetarianism.

推環保！綠色嘉年華 慈濟人報到

香港民眾製造的龐大垃圾量，一直是執政當局頭痛的問題，但是改革的契機已經出現。「顯徑邨」當地的政府與民間團體，最近就共同舉辦綠色嘉年華，希望讓民眾認識環保，慈濟志工也在現場設攤。(8/17)
香港「顯徑邨」舉辦綠色嘉年華，希望在社區推廣環保，慈濟、當然不能缺席。
保麗龍這不可以，保麗龍這不可以回收的，所以妳錯了，塑膠袋是可以回收的，正確了，公仔不能回收，對了，所以總共答對兩個。
讓小朋友了解簡單的垃圾分類，對大人、則提供實用的環保酵素教學。
民眾 與 志工：「這有什麼好處啊，洗身體的嗎？不是，可以清洗家具、洗衣、洗碗、擦窗、拖地啊、
洗菜、洗水果。」
心理衛生會主任 邱彪：「綠色共融在社區，除了綠色，希望在社區的團體，可以介紹社區環保的訊息。」
地狹人稠的香港，想要解決垃圾問題，需要長時間努力，但至少在基層的社區、已經出現契機。

彰化員林的志工張清財，每星期二固定帶高齡九十一歲的媽媽，到環保站做回收。原來三年前，張清財的二哥往生，家人擔心媽媽受不了打擊，於是鼓勵媽媽到環保站付出，這一做三年沒有中斷。
在南投埔里從事教職工作，張清財天天開車往返，跟媽媽住在員林老家
慈濟志工 張清財：「媽 我回來了，(好 吃飯沒)。」
因為三年前，二哥突然往生，擔心媽媽過度悲傷罹患憂鬱症，張清財搬回家，每天固定陪媽媽看大愛台，奉茶給媽媽喝，還鼓勵媽媽走出家門做環保
慈濟志工 張清財：「剛開始請她到環保站，她也不想去 我們勸了一個半月，她就突然想通了 說好她去，從那時候開始，每個星期二載她去完再去上班。」
開車載媽媽到環保站做回收，今年二月退休後，張清財更是全程陪著媽媽一塊環保分類
慈濟志工 張清財：「我是陪媽媽來做，媽媽年紀已經大了 91歲，能夠說在退休的時候，有機會帶媽媽來做環保，我覺得很歡喜。」
慈濟志工 江明絡：「張師兄他的行善理念，還有行孝的理念，值得大家學習 也是人品典範。」

台北萬華區的慈濟志工邱瑞霞，二十年前在住家樓下，大約十坪的空間設置環保點，每天清晨開始整理，擔心東西一多，造成環境髒亂，但這個環保點，其實在社區引起很大的效應，每到星期三下午，附近的鄰居都會來報到做環保。會讓邱瑞霞堅持下去的原因，是在十多年前生了一場大病，昏迷兩個多星期，從鬼門關前走一遭，讓她更懂得生命無常，她說現在做環保是一種使命，一種對自己的責任。
邱瑞霞：「早上我三四點鐘就起來整理了，整理完我才出去，店家是我們有時候去跟他買早餐，有時候問他，他就給我們收這樣，報紙啊這些，就這個啊，什麼都有啊，亂七八糟，回去還要分類啊，有時候多的話一個禮拜兩次，少的話就是，看大小月(差別)，少的話是一個禮拜來一次，93年成立的，覺得我們這邊有個空地，這前面，前面車子出去的話就空了，就說在這邊做，早上就是這些東西，你看，怕沒東西可以做，整天都有可以做，我如果上樓休息兩小時，下來之後又一堆了，東西太多妨礙到交通，人家會去告，會叫警察來，我們經年累月，一天在這邊的時間都很長，人家看到都會問，我東西可以拿來嗎，就這樣人家越拿越多，
越拿越多，來，倒在這邊，要布袋喔，有，這個倒下去，不用倒喔，好，我來拿，這都難免啦，一天處理垃圾也是處理不少，沒有辦法避免，有的人就你看不到，
他就給你往裡面放，有時候就是拿幾個寶特瓶，然後底下一包垃圾，那一年差一點，這腳上的傷，細菌感染，那一次就差一點死掉了，昏迷兩個星期，那時候剛出院回來還不會走路，住兩個月，在台大(醫院)，做這個以後身體就很健康，
有事情做就好像有寄託一樣，她比我，她從早到晚，他主要要去外面收，我是他收回來，幫她弄一弄，環保就是覺得說，這是一種使命，一種是覺得是我們自己的責任，我很感謝他，要不然我不知道怎麼辦，每次大紙箱來他都會切開來整理，
要不然我沒地方放，現在比較看得開了，也許是生病以後，看得更開，就像上人講的，不知道是無常先到，還是明天先到，都不知道。」

以功代金正思惟 悲心護持造福業

農曆七月吉祥月，許多民眾會燒金紙普渡，台灣一年光是紙錢就燒掉28億，製造二氧化碳，汙染地球，台中北屯區的慈濟志工到社區宣導，家家戶戶不要燒紙錢，把錢省下來幫助別人，推動正信正念不殺生，破除迷信。
吉祥月活動，就辦在社區的中庭，很多住戶全家大小一起來參加。
社區的小朋友首先上台表演手語，贏得大家熱烈掌聲，為了讓大家有戒慎虔誠，不殺生的觀念，志工粉墨登場，用歌仔戲帶出護生主題。
也用生動的表演方式，提醒大家不要葷食。
慈濟志工：「我們的肉，那麼肥，那麼漂亮，哇 現在殺來吃最新鮮，我不要，我不要，原來這是一場噩夢。」
一旁的志工也準備了許多好吃的素食，跟大家分享，志工說，七月吉祥月，要正信正念，不要迷信，尤其燒紙錢造成空氣污染，還不如捐出來幫助需要的人，這次活動居民大力支持，還免費提供電力。
住戶 王麗敏：「我聽到那些歌曲，我就非常感動，想念以前，我沒有孝順到我爸爸，想說妳們慈濟人那麼好，我覺得我應該要盡心。」
有居民的支持，活動圓滿成功，大家溫馨和樂，就像一家人。

“As we are all citizens of the planet, thus it is our duty and mission to protect the Earth.” Carrying such duty and mission on our back, and Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s teaching of “prolonging material life span to earn wisdom and blessing,” and “coexist with the Earth,” DA.AI Technology has dedicated itself on the path to guard the environment for the past 5 years. It is also such spirit and continuous work that won the recognitions from the 2014 Common Wealth Magazine CSR Award evaluation committees, and eventually awarded DA.AI of the small and medium enterprise group, and the Best First Timer special award.
Eight year has passed since the first Common Wealth Magazine CSR Award, which follows the UN Global Compact, OECD, and the Dow Jones DJSI evaluation guideline. This year, with around 2000 applicants, the committees picked out 50 outstanding Taiwanese companies to praise their dedication in corporate social responsibility. DA.AI, being a rare nominee from the eco-textile industry, stood among these 50 large corporations, many of which from the high-tech industry, and received bronze medal of CSR award in Small and Medium Enterprise group, and gold medal of the First Timer Special Award.
On the award ceremony, DA.AI’s General Manager, James Lee, shared that “the Brazil World Cup this year and the jersey of 10 countries proved that apparel made with recycled PET bottle can be as comfortable as new, and also saves resource and low Earth’s bear. We are the only company that is able to bring our winning products onto this stage; everything I am wearing today is made out of recycled PET material, this is how we implement the idea of environmental protection in everyday life.” The Design Director, Cathy Hung, further added, “DA.AI’s apparel design not only serves the purpose of environmental protection education, but also the elegance human manner and attitude through its design humanism spirit.”
Other than the 2014 Common Wealth CSR Award, DA.AI has also received 2011 Taiwan Time Magazine CSR Award, and 2013 Manager Today CSR Award. We thank to all these recognition and motivation that drives DA.AI further on the path of corporate social responsibility, and we hope with our strong core values, we will continue to fulfill our duty and mission toward the Earth, and further influence others to do the same.
