In Luoshui of China`s Sichuan Province, we meet solitary senior Yong Dingguo. Some two years ago, Tzu Chi`s winter aid distribution helped improve the senior`s living condition. Since then, he has decided to reciprocate by collecting recyclables. Grandpa Yong says, he will not stop this meaningful practice until his last breath.

On May 19th, a congregation from the Selangor State Legislative Assembly in Malaysia visited the Jing Si Hall and the environmental education center in Taipei`s Wanhua. Speaker of the assembly, Deng Zhangqin was deeply moved by the devotion and professionalism of Tzu Chi`s recycling volunteers to safeguard our planet, and promises to take this experience back with him and spread it across Malaysia.

北海環保十年 Recycling center`s 10th anniversary

Recently in Malaysia`s Penang, the Tzu Chi Butterworth Recycling and Education Center celebrated its tenth anniversary. Nearly 70 volunteers came together to review their efforts over the past ten years and also promised to carry on their work over the next decade.

Next we meet recycling volunteer Huang Xinxun who started collecting discarded plastic bags from her local market, when she found out that out of the 18 billion plastic bags used per year in Taiwan, less than 10 percent of them are collected for recycling. At the start of her mission, she was often met with strange looks from market goers, but that didn’t stop her. Let’s see how she turned the strange looks into strength to continue on her mission.

朱毋意董事長是這一次 (05/26) 受邀前來公司進行週會分享的貴賓，於演講的過程當中 朱董事長以在大學授課的專業內容，與大家分享著長纖與短纖紡紗織布的製程，同時，也將各種人造纖維的來源、製程與機能，做一詳盡的介紹，另外，更介紹鮮為人知的紡絲奈米碳管纖維的技術與布種應用，除了可以導入抗靜電、發熱、或導電的機能性應用之外，更可以將這一些韌性強悍的纖維材料，應用於運動器材、車體外殼、建築鋼架…等，多元的應用與發展，而非僅只侷限於衣服用品的製造。在短短一個小時的專業說明當中，迅速增進了同仁們對於紡織領域專業技術的認識與瞭解。
而對於落實「慈悲」結合「科技」的理念，並致力於研發環保賑災物資的大愛感恩科技公司，朱董事長始終表示高度的肯定，也因為感動這一份愛心的付出，朱董事長夫妻及女兒接受了公司的盛情邀約，親自全程參加了今年慈濟在中正紀念堂的浴佛大典，於過程當中朱董事長有一非常深切的感觸，如果大部分的國人都能如同浴佛大典中的大眾一樣，瞭解佛法中灌沐佛身，其實就是在淨化己身，一心都共同為這個神聖的目標而共同努力付出，各司其職各展所長、守法精進團結一致，那麼我們的國家社會不就會更安定、更祥和，而平安繁榮嗎？

笨珍環保啟用New residential recycling point in Pontian

In Pontian of Malaysia’s Johor, Tzu Chi had four recycling points, of which three were in schools. However, starting this year, students have to go to school on the weekend as well, so the three recycling points had to close down. Thankfully, volunteers established a new recycling point inside a residential area. Here’s more.

馬禤翠萍往生Recycling volunteer til death

Malaysia`s Tzu Chi recycling volunteer Xuan Cuiping(宣翠萍) joined Tzu Chi in 2003 and, since then, has dedicated herself to recycling. A failed marriage drove her to the mahjong table, but after joining Tzu Chi, her time has been better spent collecting recyclables. Spending her last moments keeping her vows of protecting the planet, Xuan Cuiping(宣翠萍) passed away peacefully at home on May 4. She was 78.
馬來西亞慈濟環保志工禤翠萍，於2003年參加慈濟，投入環保，婚姻失敗讓她沉迷在麻將檯上，不過，直到認識慈濟，將時間花在做環保，臨終前，禤翠萍一樣做回收，她在家中安養過世，享年78歲。 Read more
聊天作畫唱老歌 榮民爺爺解鄉愁

慈濟技術學院學生，把握假日當志工，不管是環保淨灘、或是關懷照顧戶和榮民爺爺，都是運用年輕人的熱情與活力，體現付出無所求的精神。
一首歌，倍感親切，馬上拉近距離。慈濟技術學院學生來到榮民之家，陪爺爺們聊天，講古，像家人一般的互動，看見長輩臉上洋溢著笑容，學生也得到一樣的快樂。
齊心合作一起作畫，用充滿童趣的作品，提前慶祝端午節，也抒解榮民爺爺們思鄉的情懷。
大家也跟著慈濟志工到原住民部落訪視，動手拔雜草、協助耕種，對很多人來都是新鮮體驗，說是服務，其實更是學習。
慈濟技術學院行管系學生 林憶慈：「因為這裡本來像這樣，沒有任何東西，然後我們先把土用起來，直接帶有莖的來種，希望這次可以長很多。」
哥哥姊姊們也到照顧戶家中，陪伴小朋友利用隨手可得的材料，做出獨一無二的美勞。
慈濟技術學院行管系學生 石家瑜：「我覺得很開心，剛開始什麼都不懂，跟著大家一起做就很好，小朋友們也都很熱情。」
騎上單車，充滿活力，大夥兒要到七星潭，展開環保大作戰。仔細撿拾石縫中的垃圾，小小動作，大大改變。彎腰付出的身影，讓風景變得更加美麗。
