In Taiwan, the government forbids farmers from growing genetically modified crops so as to protect the nation`s farmlands from contamination because GM crops can easily propagate through their pollens. Since 2008, the Council of Agriculture`s Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station in Taichung has been conducting DNA analysis on a regular basis to make sure all farmers are adhering to the regulation. However, the public believes the agency should perform and publish test results more frequently.

臺灣政府並不允許種植基改作物是為了保護台灣的非基改農田，因為基改作物能輕易的靠花粉擴散，而自2008年開始，農委會在台中的種苗改良繁殖場，定期進行作物的基因檢測業務，確保農友都有配合政府的政策，不過，民間團體認為，檢測制度應該更加普及化、定期化。
