For many, meeting Tzu Chi is often a turning point in life. Volunteer Tan Ching Guan of Klang, Malaysia grew up in an impoverished household, living a frugal lifestyle. In 2008 she met Tzu Chi at a community event and has been caring for the environment ever since. The death of her son, two years ago, made her realize life’s impermanence. She now encourages her family to volunteer and has reaffirmed her dedication to Tzu Chi’s conservation mission.
