While many people enjoy lavish meals with their families and loved ones during the Chinese New Year, there are some who insist on keeping to a vegetarian diet. A student at the Tzu Chi Johor Bahru Kindergarten in Malaysia, Chua Shan Yuan, began to refrain from eating meat after participating in the Passport to Vegetarian Land campaign held at his school. As he has persevered with his vegetarian diet, his family was moved to also follow suit.
當許多人過年少不了大魚大肉，有一些人還是堅持茹素，一位就讀馬來西亞新山慈濟幼兒園的孩童蔡善淵，因為響應蔬果星球活動，開始茹素，當他堅持茹素後，家人也欣然接受跟著吃素。
