In Taiwan, people typically bring their recyclables to the recycling trucks that follow after the garbage trucks during trash collection time. Often, the recyclables are not properly sorted or cleaned before they are handed over to the waste management crew. To deal with the problem in Pingtung City, the city government has enlisted the help of Tzu Chi volunteers. Instead of dispatching recycling trucks, the city now has 98 recycling points across the city, where residents bring their sorted and cleaned recyclables. Tzu Chi volunteers are stationed at 80 of them to help make sure everything is done properly. In the 13 months since starting the program, the city has successfully increased its recycling ratio and cut down on its trash.

在台灣，居民通常是在倒垃圾時，順便把回收物，交給跟在垃圾車後面的資源回收車，但通常，這些回收物並不會分類得很好，也通常沒有清洗過，而屏東市為了解決這樣的問題，決定找慈濟人幫忙，市政府設立了98資源回收點，其中80個有慈濟志工在現場，教導市民如何分類，清洗回收物，13個月下來，屏東市提升了資源回收率，也減少了垃圾量。
