For over 20 years, Tzu Chi has been recycling and re-using resources, helping Taiwan reduce the volume of garbage it produces. Together with the Da Ai Technology Company founded by Tzu Chi volunteers, the Buddhist NGO also turns plastic bottles, which would take 1,000 years to decompose, into warm blankets that can also be used for disaster relief. Extending the life of resources, and spreading love internationally, has a huge impact. But Master Cheng Yen teaches that purification should begin at the source - which means instead of taking our trash to the recycling station, we should stop consuming and wasting, and lead simple and content lives.
慈濟推行環保二十餘年，環保回收再利用，全台垃圾量大降低，像是大愛感恩科技公司，將千年不會腐化的寶特瓶做成溫暖的毛毯，甚至變成國際賑災的救援物資，物命循環再利用，發揮了大效能，還能在國際間傳愛。但證嚴上人教導大家，回歸根本，清淨在源頭，唯有人人降低物欲，少欲知足，才是愛惜大地之母，讓地球生生不息的最好方法。
